Documentary charting the development of the wartime relationships between the three leaders of the allies - Churchill, de Gaulle and Roosevelt. In early 1943, relations reached their lowest ebb, with Roosevelt pouring scorn on the Free French leader. Churchill found himself caught in the middle, and on the eve of D-Day, a last-minute row threatened to jeopardise a vital part of the naval operation.
