Abstract

"Italian Politics" examines, first, the election results, European, local, and the evolution of power relations within the two major camps, paying specific attention to Forza Italy, the functioning of the coalition government and the role of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. It analyzes the actions of the government towards the process of formation of the European Constitution, the draft constitutional reform, the new judicial system and, finally, the pension reform, the only major reform actually launched during the year. Not even the crack of Parmalat was able to seek the approval of a reform of the institutions for the protection of savings.
