Abstract

The narratives that people told about their leisure occupations were analysed in order to better understand the relationships between the individual, his or her leisure occupations and the impacts on social and physical environments. Some people demonstrated that their leisure occupations were not solely focused on pleasure and self-interest. The leisure activity of an individual can contribute to the well-being of future generations, can give pleasure to others, can involve care for the environment and can empower others.
