Abstract

This is the first of four reports from a project commissioned by Ashton, Wigan and Leigh Community Healthcare. Narratives were collected from service-users to explore what it was like to be on the receiving end of the Trust's community services. The analysis enabled feedback to be given to the Trust on positive and negative aspects of these services: • Long Term Conditions • Complex Community Care • Acute Care Closer to Home • Children, Young People and Families • Independent Living • Health and Wellbeing Other issues arising from the analysis included what expectations people have of community healthcare, healthcare workers 'going the extra mile', what it is to be a professional, and helplessness and empowerment as a service-user.
