There are many career options available to nurses, midwives and allied health professional (AHPs) and one of these options is in the world of research. Making the move into research as a career option is gaining popularity and by the end of 2013 it is anticipated that the UK-wide clinical research nurse workforce will be about 10 000. The previous paper in this series looked at the role of the research nurse and how to take the first tentative steps into the role. This paper will discuss supporting the development of researchers and is applicable to both novice and more experienced researchers.
