Abstract

Working with clients who have experienced domestic violence is known to be complex, with particularly high rates of client non-attendance or leaving therapy prematurely. In this book clients talk about what they found difficult in accessing therapy, why they previously left counselling early, and what they ultimately found helpful. Uniquely, it explores the similarities and differences between the expressed needs of female and male survivors of domestic violence as well as the difficulties currently experienced in service provision.
