This project will enhance the quality of research supervision for professional doctorate (DProf) students at the University, building on existing knowledge and practices. The outcome will be evidence based DProf supervision guidelines. These will be developed on the basis of a literature review, communication with professional networks to establish current practice, and in depth interviews with DProf (Health and Social Care) supervisors and students. The project will create a body of knowledge and supervisor skill from which to further develop practices for subsequent DProfs I in the University and it will also have currency in the wider academic milieu, given current growth in professional doctorate programmes. This project offers a foundation from which to build further research potential, inter disciplinary and inter university collaboration and partnership, supported by external research funding.
