Written from a practice-as-research perspective, this paper focuses on the importance of teaching the technique of the ‘digital double’ in multimedia performance. It offers a summary of the key theorists who assist in our interpretation and understanding of this particular oeuvre, and suggests a range of techniques and considerations for the teacher of multimedia performance that can be applied in both workshop and extended programme of study. The author proposes that within this particular performance technique there are indications of a possible future of performance pedagogy in which we will be working in much closer proximity with the sciences.
