Abstract
Urban Diffuse Pollution is a major contributor that will prevent UK’s water bodies from achieving the Good chemical and ecological status by 2015, a WFD deadline. My innovative solution is a planning tool linking Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and ecosystem services together, so that the best water management decisions can be made when combined with existing SuDS decision making methods, such as CIRIA C687 – Planning for SuDS, in order to tackle Urban Diffuse Pollution and enable the water bodies to achieve the Good status by 2027, also a WFD deadline. This idea comes from myself, Prof. Philip James and Prof. Miklas Scholz. This presentation will enable you to understand the concept behind my planning tool, the basic operation of the tool, and will allow you to see a real life demonstration of how this planning tool will work, when combined with an existing SuDS decision making method, to combat Urban Diffuse Pollution. This presentation will focus on the situation in the North of England.
