Abstract
The Salford BBC Spatially-sampled Binaural Room Impulse Response dataset (SBS-BRIR) is a freely-available spatially-sampled binaural room impulse response dataset measured at the University of Salford’s ITU-R BS.1116-1 compliant listening room. The dataset includes measurements of 12 loudspeakers, positioned at ear-height, using a B&K HATS with a 2 degree head-azimuth resolution and 15 different listener positions. The dataset can be used in the subjective and objective evaluation and simulation of domestic spatial audio reproduction under a representative living room condition and for off centre listening positions. Measurement details, procedure and initial validation tests are described in a paper presented in the 21st International Congress on Sound and Vibration in 2014. A pre-print copy of the paper is included with this dataset. resolution and 15 different listener positions. Additional Information: | The dataset is saved in the Measured Impulse Response Object (miro) format [www.audiogroup.web.fh-koeln.de/], as described in “P. Stade, B. Bernschutz and M. Ruhl, A Spatial Audio Impulse Response Compilation Captured at the WDR Broadcast Studios in 27th Tonmeistertagung - VDT International Convention, 2012”. The miro class enables a large amount of technical and positional information to be stored in a conveniently accessible package with functions included to convert the data to a number of output formats. Each listening position contains 12 miro files (one for each loudspeaker). Each miro file contains the full 360 degree head-azimuth BRIRs for both ears of the HATS and omni-directional room IRs for all loudspeakers. |
