Abstract
Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) is attracting more and more researcher due to its rugged and robust construction and applications in industrial environments. SRM are most widely used in contrast to induction machines, brushless dc motors, or other conventional ac motors because of their simpler designs and higher operating speeds. However the need to use a mechanical position sensor for their control is one of the disadvantages from the standpoints of cost, size, and reliability. This paper discusses the techniques to make SRM a sensorless drive and presents the simulation results for its performance analysis.
