Abstract

Collaborative working is necessary to improve the patient experience and quality services for children and young people with autism. The major challenges for children and young people with autism spectrum disorders relate to social interactions with people and the environment. These challenges are brought into sharp focus when the child/young person requires health care intervention. Reasonable adjustments enable access and inclusion in children’s health services and are complemented by multi-agency collaboration thus delivering successful clinical outcomes.
