Abstract
This chapter will explore the concepts of leadership and management. This chapter will first define leadership and management and then discuss what is meant by clinical leadership. Next, self-assessment will be applied to help determine areas of leadership strength and to identify weaknesses or areas for leadership development. A SWOT analysis is used to make sense of the information generated through undertaking the self-assessments. Finally, all of the information generated is focussed upon to develop individual TFPDPs. Activities throughout this chapter that include being introduced to a case study about Jordan, provide the opportunity to reflect, plan and develop the leadership required for transition. These leadership skills enable high quality care that takes place within an ever-changing healthcare environment.
