Abstract

• Provide an introduction to the context of supporting families and carers in the practice setting • Understand the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours necessary to form appropriate professional relationships with families and other carers • Identify and discuss the issues relating to appropriate involvement of families and other carers in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care • Analyse the impact of caring on family and other carers across care settings • Explore the relationship between formal/professional caregiving and informal caregiving by families and other caregivers
