Architecture to support semantic resources interoperability
, in: First ACM International Workshop on Interoperability of Heterogeneous Information Systems (IHIS 2005), 4 November 2005, Bremen, Germany.
Abstract
Semantic Resources (SRs) such as ontologies and taxonomies are used in many sectors for various purposes. In the Construction domain they are used to facilitate software application inter-working, and improve communication and understanding among the various stakeholders operating on a project. This paper describes the methodology used in the FUNSIEC project to facilitate integration and interoperability among the various SRs used in the Construction domain. A service-based architecture is proposed to better exploit the variety of SRs in use in the sector, and facilitate the development of a new generation of electronic services enabled by the proposed infrastructure.
