Abstract
This paper focuses on the question of how industry should adapt to today's information environment. It is proposed that businesses should look to long-standing organizations such as the church and government for an appropriate information model. While the development of organizational models has traditionally been the domain of organizational science, the study of organizational structure can also provide a foundation for information scientists (Eom and Farris, 1996).
