Since his doctoral research at Cambridge, where he taught history as a graduate teaching assistant before moving to the University of Salford, John Keiger's research and publications have concentrated on the international history of Europe from the nineteenth to the twentieth centuries. His research focus is principally the bureaucratic politics of French foreign policy, how it is formulated, by whom and how it is executed.
