Neal Hazel is Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Salford, U.K. He has recently returned from a period as HM Deputy Chief Inspector of Probation for England and Wales. He has led more than 25 funded research projects in juvenile justice and family/health services, including evaluations of both national custodial and community disposals. He also directed a study of young offenders’ experiences in juvenile justice, has written two government-published two cross-national comparisons of youth justice systems (1998 & 2008), and has acted as consultant to a number of independent inspection bodies. He is part of a major five-year project to research and disseminate good practice in juvenile re-entry – www.beyondyouthcustody.net - and is writing a book on A Histomore...
