Abstract

In this study we investigate the surface waves in an anisotropic fibre-reinforced magneto-thermoelastic material under a constant transverse magnetic field. We employ the coupled theory (CD), Lord-Shulman (L-S) theory and Green-Lindsay (G-L) theory to study the influence of magnetic field on the two-dimensional problem. Analytical expressions for displacement components and stress components are obtained in the physical domain by using harmonic vibrations. The wave velocity equations have been obtained for different cases. Numerical results for the temperature, displacement and thermal stress components are given and illustrated graphically in the absence and the presence of the magnetic field of the material medium. A comparison also is made between the three theories in the presence and absence of fiber-reinforcements. The study is relevant to the simulation of elastodynamic phenomena in geophysical materials, seismic wave effects on magnetic structures (roller coaster bearings) and ferromagnetics etc.
