In one of its last opinions handed down before its transformation into the Supreme Court, the House of Lords yet again considered issues concerning the liability of auditors, in this case on the application of the doctrine of ex turpi causa non oritur actio as a defence to a claim for negligence brought by the audited company.1 Whether, however, the judgments delivered have clarified the law on ex turpi or auditors' liability is open to doubt.
