I am a researcher of contemporary film and visual culture with a specialism in moving image production made in and about Northern Ireland. My current interests lie in how practitioners engage with the mediatization of conflict, and in examining the aesthetics and post-memorial implications of appropriated archival materials in conflict-themed film and visual art. I have previously held teaching posts at Queen's, Lancaster University, Newcastle University, and University of Aberdeen. My monograph Old Borders, New Technologies: Reframing Film and Visual Culture in Contemporary Northern Ireland (2014) won the Peter Lang Young Scholars in Film Studies 2012 competition.
