Biography:

Dr Qurashi joined the University of Salford in 2021 having been a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Sociology at Staffordshire University (2018-2021) and a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Canterbury Christ Church University (2014-2018). Dr Qurashi has led and taught on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across Sociology, Criminology, Religious Studies, and Terrorism Studies. He acquired Fellowship of the HEA in 2016 and membership of the Teaching and Learning Academy in 2017. Dr Qurashi has extensive mentoring experience and leads the Criminology/Sociology Peer Mentor Scheme. Dr Qurashi has a PhD in Sociology (Kent) and conducts research in the areas of political Islam, religious revivalism, counter-terrorism, surveillance, radicalisation, race and racism, and Islamophobia.
